31 May Appreciate . ActuallyActually, I really appreciate you want to read this article. I actually gave much thought about this and appreciate that you tell me your views.
Singaporeans appreciate that "actually" openly betrays our little insecurities that others suspect what we say most of the time. Actually we are emphasising a point, though there is no falsehood in the whole statement. Actually we are sensitive creatures, who actually want others to know when we are joking and when we are actually not.
We actually "appreciate" that you understand that we actually "would love to", "it will be nice", "are happy that" too shows a lot of appreciation without actually being blatant about appreciation. While I actually appreciate that you understand this, I am actually not saying you must do it, and I am appreciative even if you have not. We are actually a shy, appreciative bunch who likes to tell you everything, in a single word.
Actually, most of us do complain about having to do summaries during examinations. We appreciate that that we can now cut down on words used, nevermind the expression is somewhat distorted, aggressive and demanding. And we have to "actually". We appreciate that you appreciate our dry humour, and our love for oxymorons in highlighting one can mean no appreciation when expressing "appreciate".
